Incipio Group has reported that like-for-like sales rose 66% on the same period last year, contributing to a “record” year in sales of £26.4m after it experienced its strongest ever month of trading in December 2023.

The company, which operates hospitality venues including Pergola on the Wharf, The Libertine and The Prince, attributed its performance to a combination of increased Christmas party bookings, private events and festive activations.

As a result, Incipio reported an increase of 38% in guest visits compared with the previous year.

In addition, the strong like-for-like growth was bolstered by corporate and private hires, which delivered £1.2m in sales alone throughout December.

As well as an increase in Christmas party bookings and private events, festive events were also scheduled on dates less in demand for corporate bookings to “maximise reasons to visit in December”.

According to the group, it has also attributed its performance to proactiveness in hosting high high energy brunch and late-night concepts, as well as its use of TikTok to reach new audiences.

The company also experienced a sell-out New Year’s Eve across all venues, having made more than £160k in ticket sales alone.

Ed Devenport, CEO of Incipio Group, said: “We are delighted to have finished 2023 with our best ever month as a group. The demand for our venues was high throughout the whole of December, testament to the outstanding reasons to visit created by our teams in terms of offering and experience.

“We also invested significantly in the guest experience and delivery of private hires across the group last year, and it is rewarding to see this come to fruition with growth in December. Records have been broken across our eight venues, as well as several million-plus weeks in terms of sales.”
