Greggs has announced it will open its first pub-style pop-up – The Golden Flake Tavern – on Saturday (27 September) at Fenwick department store in Newcastle, offering bakery-themed beers, cocktails and food.

Once opened, the Golden Flake Tavern will run daily from 11am to 7pm. The project is a collaboration with Newcastle-based Full Circle Brew Co, which has developed two draft beers for the venue – Pink Jammie IPA and Gosforth 1939 Stottie Lager. Both will also be available for purchase through Fenwick’s food hall and online.

A cocktail menu has also been created, including the Pink Jammie Fizz and a Spiced Caramel Doughnut Old Fashioned.

Food options take inspiration from Greggs’ bakery staples, with pub-style dishes such as a Chicken Bake Parmo, a Steak Bake Mixed Grill, a Ploughman’s Platter and a Greggs carvery served on Sundays. Desserts include a Pink Jammie Trifle and a Yum Yum bread and butter pudding.

Greggs said the venture aims to combine the familiarity of a local pub with the brand’s products in a new format for customers.
