Pret a Manger has announced the appointment of Lawrence Heyes as its new operations director, having previously worked in the chain’s Pret operations team from 2010 to 2012.
During his career, Heyes has held various roles at companies such as Hotel Chocolat, Aldi and Amazon.
Heyes currently leads the company owned restaurant operations team for KFC in the UK and Ireland, where he and the team recently brought back into the business over 220 shops from their largest franchise partner.
News of Heyes’s return to the sandwich shop follows the recent appointment of Matthew Bresnahan as chief marketing officer in September 2025, as Pret a Manger looks to drive forward its growth plans and bring the brand to more people.
For the year ending 2 January 2025, Pret a Manger saw a 10% sales increase to £1.2bn, with adjusted EBITDA jumping 36% to £98m.
Its performance was attributed to international growth and value initiatives like Club Pret, despite a £552.9m non-cash goodwill impairment due to economic factors and strategy shifts, resulting in an operating loss of £451.5m for the year.
