Domino’s Pizza has announced the appointment of Matt Shattock as director and chairman, with effect from 16 March.
Shattock will also be a member of the remuneration committee and chairman of the nomination committee.
He currently holds the position of non-executive chairman of spirits company, Beam Suntory, which he has held since April last year. He first joined Beam in 2009 as president and CEO. Prior to joining Beam, Shattock held senior roles at Cadbury and Unilever. In addition to his role at Beam, he also serves on the boards of The Clorox Company and VF Corporation.
Shattock’s appointment follows Dominos reporting a 4.8% increase in sales to £1.2m in the full year results ending 29 December 2019.
Like-for-like sales in the UK were up 3.7%, whilst Ireland’s total like-for-like sales rose by 3%. These results follow closely after Domino’s reported “solid” fourth-quarter growth last month.
Shattock said he is “excited” to join Domino’s as chairman.
He said: “My priorities will be building the new executive leadership, while also getting out to know the business, meeting colleagues and engaging with our franchisees to build a constructive relationship. I firmly believe that by working together we can build an exciting and profitable future for our people, our franchisees and our shareholders.”
Ian Bull, interim chairman, added: “In Matt we believe we have found a chairman who absolutely fits this description. He has extensive and highly relevant experience in the consumer sector, including B2B and B2C relationships, which will be crucial as Domino’s seeks to rebuild relationships with its franchisees and return to profitable growth.”
