Domino’s Pizza Group has announced the appointment of Neil Smith as in interim chief financial officer with effect from 15 April 2020.

Smith most recently served as the CFO of  Ei Group (formerly Enterprise Inns) from 2011 until its recent takeover by Stonegate Pub Company. He has also held senior finance positions at Compass Group, Virgin Media and Telewest.

Smith’s appointment follows the death of the group’s previous CFO David Bauernfeind in December 2019. As an interim appointment, Smith will not be joining the group’s board.

Matt Shattock, chairman, said: “I look forward to welcoming Neil to the Group. Neil will make an excellent addition to the team at this important time.”

The news comes as Domino’s appointed Dominic Paul as its new CEO, earlier this week, who will join the company from 6 April.

Paul will also join the board as CEO on 1 May 2020. Most recently, he served as chief executive officer and managing director of Costa Coffee. He led the Costa brand from 2016 to 2019, overseeing its growth ahead of the £3.9bn sale of the business by Whitbread to Coca-Cola last year.
