Hospitality groups recorded a YoY sales rise of 1.7% in September, meaning that managed venues have achieved like-for-like increases in eight of the nine months to September 2024. While this is a welcome improvement, it is a sign of the continuing challenges to real-term growth, as the sector enters the crucial Golden Quarter. 

UKH has been appointed a core participant in the Covid-19 Public Inquiry in London, as the preliminary hearing into the economic response to the pandemic began. Chief executive Kate Nicholls and deputy chief executive Allen Simpson were in attendance as the sole private sector representatives at the inquiry.

McDonald’s UK&I has extended its partnership with Uber Direct, Uber’s white-label delivery service, as it aims to increase the number of customers using its mobile app. Its technology allows McDonald’s customers to track delivery from their local restaurant to their door and access 24/7 customer service if additional support is ever required.

Silva will be opening in Mayfair this November. The new restaurant, which boasts 91 covers across two floors and an outdoor terrace, will be serving breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. The menus at Silva are a “manifestation” of founder Daria’s Grebenyuk travels across various countries.
