A former Michelin star restaurant has been given a one star hygiene rating, in the the most recent set-back for the Cambridge venue.

Alimentum has been awarded a one star food hygiene rating in its latest report.

According to the Food Standards Agency the restaurant’s management of food safety requires ‘major improvement’.

The blow comes after the contemporary restaurant was delisted from the Michelin Guide 2018 in October last year.

Alimentum held its star for five years before being deleted from the list.

Chef Patron, Mark Poynton, told the Cambridge News: “My team at Alimentum and I strive to reach the highest food hygiene standards set out by the council.

“We seem to have been penalised on paperwork, which we are still not aware of as after four weeks since the inspection we have had no official contact from the visit and what is wrong to put right.

“I have emailed the Environmental Health Officer at the council with no response. I can assure everybody we will do whatever is asked of us by the council team and will right the wrongs as soon as possible.”
