German Doner Kebab will open two new restaurants this autumn, expanding its UK footprint with launches in Elephant and Castle, south London, and at Cobham Services on the M25, in Surrey.
The new locations mark the latest stage in the brand’s national growth strategy and its move to diversify across both urban and travel destinations.
The Elephant and Castle restaurant, on Walworth Road, will create 20 jobs and joins an area undergoing one of London’s largest regeneration programmes. The site will serve the chain’s full menu, including its signature doner kebabs, rice bowls and desserts.
At Cobham Services, one of the country’s busiest motorway stops, German Doner Kebab will open its fourth motorway restaurant in partnership with operator Extra MSA, following earlier sites at Baldock, Cambridge and Peterborough. The Cobham outlet will employ 40 people and introduce the chain’s new “Fiver Menu” of lighter dishes priced at £5 each.
Simon Wallis, chief executive of German Doner Kebab, said: “Elephant and Castle is a dynamic and diverse part of London with a real sense of transformation. Opening here is an exciting opportunity to connect with the local community while introducing them to our game-changing kebabs.
“Cobham Services is also a truly unique and dynamic location, welcoming huge numbers of travellers every day, and allowing us to reach a wide mix of customers on the move. Each new opening is a testament to the dedication of our team and franchise partners.”
The Elephant and Castle branch is due to open in October 2025, with the Cobham Services restaurant to follow in November.
