Doner Shack has revealed that it has awarded the franchise rights to its first-ever US franchisee, to open in Dallas, Texas.

The franchisee Mr Zaman has signed an agreement for three locations which Doner Shack is now scouting for. He has a background spanning food service, franchise operations and project management.

The deal comes after the company attended Franchise Expo South in Fort Lauderdale last September, which generated strong interest from potential franchisees.

Doner Shack’s food concept features Doner and shawarma kebabs, buttermilk fried chicken tenders, loaded fries, and sliders.

Sanj Sanghera, co-founder, said: “The response to Doner Shack at the Franchise Expo South has been truly incredible. We’re very excited to welcome our first US franchisee in Dallas – a city celebrated for its dynamic food culture and entrepreneurial spirit. This is just the beginning of an exciting journey as we bring our unrivalled, crave-worthy kebabs to American diners.”

Zaman added: “I chose Doner Shack because it brings together amazing quality, bold branding and international appeal. Their commitment to fresh ingredients, seamless operations and an outstanding customer experience perfectly matches my dream of owning a fast-casual restaurant that doesn’t just blend in – it stands out.

“Running a bustling gyro cart in the heart of New York City wasn’t just a job for me – it was where I discovered my true passion for the restaurant industry. That hands-on experience fuelled my dream of owning and growing a thriving restaurant under a powerful franchise brand and now, that dream is becoming a reality.”

It comes after the company made a trip to the Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) in Doha, eyeing an expansion in the Middle East.

Alongside this, the company was invited by the British Embassy in Qatar to its own event which introduced certain hand-picked UK brands invited to the festival to investors.
