Atlanta-based fast food restaurant Chick-fil-A has announced that it is targeting sites in London, Leeds, Liverpool and Belfast as it looks to expand into the UK market.
The brand has stated that it is “in the process of selecting operators” for the four cities and hopes to open a total of five restaurants in the next two years.
The group plans to invest $100m (£80m) in the UK over the next decade as part of a wider $1bn investment to launch the brand in five markets outside North America by 2030.
It is hoping to attract UK franchise partners to its “unique” owner-operator model which requires an investment of $10,000 (£8,000).
According to the company four in every five franchisees will own just one franchise.
The plan comes just four years after it originally tried to get a foothold in the UK market.
Back in 2019, it opened a store in Reading which was subsequently marked for closure only a week later after LGBT+ rights charity Reading Pride called for a boycott due the owner’s links to donations to anti-LGBTQ+ organisations.
