Event organisers Diversified Communications has announced it has taken the decision to cancel the Casual Dining Show 2020.

The news, revealed in an email, comes after the scheduled event venue – London’s ExCeL – is to be converted into a makeshift hospital.

NHS Nightingale as it will be called will be made up of two wards, each of 2,000 beds.

Earlier this month, it was revealed the event was going to be postponed until June in the wake of the coronavirus.

The event was set to feature over 65 speakers including CEOs, founders and senior directors from YO!, London Union, Loungers, Carluccio’s, Byron, Flat Iron, Imbiba, Pizza Pilgrims, Wahaca, Dishoom, Busaba, Yard & Coop, and Hippo Inns.

The email sent to the media notifying of the cancellation read: “I’m sure you have seen the unexpected announcement regarding ExCeL London, our venue, now taking on an important role as the Nightingale Hospital to help the NHS during this national emergency. With this in mind, sadly we are now left with no other option than to cancel Casual Dining 2020.”
