BBC catering staff face redundancy

The BBC has entered a consultation process with on-site catering staff at two of its Scottish sites, which may result in a number of redundancies at its Dumbarton studio and Glasgow HQ.
While the broadcaster did not confirm the extremity of job loss risks, the situation is undergoing a review amid the company’s current “financial challenges”.
A BBC spokesman told Catering Today that the situation has become “significantly more difficult now that sites are running at a reduced capacity”.
The spokesman added: “Plans for reduced services at our Dumbarton studio and at our centre at Pacific Quay, Glasgow, are currently the subject of consultation.
“We’re working closely with our supplier BaxterStorey to ensure their staff are given as much support and information as possible.”
The catering staff in question work for BaxterStorey, a contractor that belongs to parent company WSH Group. The caterers operate throughout the UK, including a recent £6m venture with Aberdeen FC.
