Costa Coffee franchise operator Sim Trava Group has acquired 21 Costa-branded sites from QFM Group, a UK-based fast-food franchise operator, for an undisclosed sum.

Sim Trava stated that the acquisition marked “a significant step forward” for the company, which is expanding its presence with the brand amid “challenging trading conditions”.

Operations director James Smith thanked QFM staff involved in the handover, including regional operational manager Teresa Green and regional manager Colin Horton.

According to Costa, the redesign aimed to create a “modern and inviting” space for customers.

The refreshed site includes an open-plan counter to allow customers to see drinks being prepared, self-service digital kiosks to speed up ordering, and a range of seating such as booths, lounge chairs and high stools.

In a LinkedIn post, Smith said: “I am delighted to announce that Sim Trava Group Ltd has increased our commitment to the Costa brand by acquiring 21 stores. This is a significant step forward, and I want to take a moment to acknowledge the outstanding support from Teresa and Colin at QFM.

“Their dedication to their teams has played a crucial role in growing their business over the past 12 months and ensuring a smooth transition. I’m truly blown away by the incredible managers and teams I’ve encountered, and I can’t wait to align with our Sim Trava values as we move forward together. These achievements don’t happen by chance, and I would also like to express my gratitude to the Costa franchise team for their unwavering support…”
