Sri Lankan kitchen Karapincha has announced that it will be opening its first bricks and mortar site in Canary Wharf, London.

The new 350 sq ft site will be located in Canary Wharf tube station and will be a significant step for family-run business.

The business currently operates in three of London’s best known food markets: Spitalfields Market, Mercato Metropolitano in Elephant and Castle, and Market Place Vauxhall.

Due to open its doors in August, the new site’s menu will feature many of Karapincha’s signature homemade lunch and dinner dishes.

It will also have an all day cafe suitable for 10 covers which will be the first Karapincha site to offer breakfast.

Vasanthini Perumal, co-founder, said: “We are thrilled to be taking the next step in Karapincha’s journey at Canary Wharf. This more permanent site is a significant milestone for us and the location itself carries such personal significance as our former workplace where we spent so many years being the commuters walking through the tube station to whom we will now be serving delicious authentic, homemade Sri Lankan dishes.

“Family traditions are central to our business – we serve the dishes that our mother loved to cook – and we hope that, when they walk through our doors, Canary Wharf shoppers, office workers and locals will feel like they are being welcomed into our home.”
