Heineken, the multinational brewing company, has appointed David Flochel as the new managing director for its UK arm.

Flochel will commence his role as of 1 January 2021, taking over from interim managing director Simon Amor, who had held the role since David Forde’s departure in July of this year.

Previous to his current role as CEO at the self-service retailer company, Selecta Group, Flochel held several senior roles in North America, most notably at Unilever and Mars Drinks.

Speaking on his appointment, he said: “It’s a great pleasure to be joining Heineken. Our portfolio of brands, our route to market strength, and our great people and culture are unique and very inspiring to me.

“I am looking forward to working closely with our teams, our suppliers, customers and partners. I am confident that together we will emerge even stronger.”

Flochel will report to Søren Hagh, and is expected to replicate the “successful” growth strategy and delivery of bottom-line results seen at Selecta.

Hagh commended Flochel’s “authentic leadership style”, also praising his “customer centric approach and passion for developing talent”.
