Pub operator, Ei Group, has achieved the Investors in People Gold Award, which is given to organisations who “demonstrate excellence in developing and supporting their employees”.

Following a re-assessment process, the pub group now joins a small list of accredited organisations across the UK that have achieved the gold standard. The standard is only awarded to businesses who can actively demonstrate they operate at the “very highest levels” of people management practice, in business strategy, ethos and values.

Just this morning the group’s financial results for the year ending 30 September 2018 saw pre-tax profits rise by £1m up to £122m, while underlying earnings held at £287m. Ei Group closed 174 pubs over the same period, with its total portfolio down from 4,051 to 3,718.

Simon Townsend, CEO at Ei Group, said: “This is a considerable achievement for the group given the level of change that we have undergone as a business since the last assessment in 2016 and especially given that the required performance standards have been made tougher in the intervening period.

“We’re committed to providing exciting and challenging careers at Ei Group, which incorporates the personal development of individuals throughout their time with the company. This award is a clear validation of all the hard work that has been put in by teams across the business.”
