JD Wetherspoon has appointed John Herring as a non-executive director, with immediate effect.
The pub operator said Herring will also take on the role of chair of the audit committee.
Herring is a chartered accountant and began his career in corporate finance at Kleinwort Benson in 1986, where he worked on a number of initial public offerings on the London Stock Exchange, including JD Wetherspoon’s flotation.
In 1996, he set up a private equity advisory business and has since held a number of non-executive roles across listed and private companies.
These have included previous spells on the boards of JD Wetherspoon between 1997 and 2011, restaurant group Hawksmoor and sandwich chain Eat.
Herring is also currently non-executive chairman of Ceiba Investments.
JD Wetherspoon did not disclose any further changes to the board alongside the appointment.
