Kung Fu Mama, the Taiwanese noodle bar founded by Ottolenghi co-founder Noam Bar-Chang and retail entrepreneur Chris Hsu, is set to open its second London restaurant in Canary Wharf in the first quarter of 2026.

The new site will open in Jubilee Place, expanding the brand beyond its debut location in Covent Garden, which launched last year. The opening marks the company’s first move into London’s financial district.

Kung Fu Mama specialises in Taiwanese street food, with a menu centred on sun-dried noodles made using a traditional hand-folding technique designed to produce a firm texture. The business positions its food around oven-baked proteins and moderated use of salt, sugar and fat.

Menu items include noodle bowls such as chicken with ginger and sesame, beef with Szechuan pepper, beef and tomato noodles, portobello mushroom with Romano pepper, and traditional beef noodle soup. Bao sandwiches and small plates, including cucumber salad and wood-ear mushroom salad, are also offered, alongside desserts such as mango shaved ice cream and pineapple pie.

The Canary Wharf restaurant will follow the design approach used at the Covent Garden site, featuring a custom typeface and a mural referencing Hsu’s Taiwanese culinary background.

Bar-Chang said the second opening reflected growing interest in Taiwanese food in the capital: “London’s enthusiasm for Taiwanese food has exceeded all our expectations, and we’re excited to bring our contemporary take on these flavours to Canary Wharf in early 2026.”

He added: “This second opening feels like an important step in putting Taiwanese cuisine more firmly on the UK culinary map.”
