Professionals at Play has announced the promotion of Ben Turnock to managing director as the group continues to expand its multi-brand leisure and hospitality estate across the UK and Ireland.

Turnock, who was most recently finance director, has worked with founders Matt Jones and Ben Jones since 2020 and formally joined the business in 2023. His responsibilities have widened in recent years to include operational delivery and strategic execution alongside financial oversight.

The promotion comes as Professionals at Play grows the scale of its portfolio, which includes Roxy Lanes, Roxy Ball Room, King Pins and Star Pins. The group now operates 27 venues across the UK, following the opening of King Pins at Castle Lane in Belfast last month.

Professionals at Play has also secured its first site in Ireland, marking its initial move into the market. The 12,000 sq ft Roxy Ball Room venue at Central Plaza in Dublin is due to open in the second quarter of this year, around 200 yards from Temple Bar.

The company is planning at least five further openings in 2026, including King Pins in Edinburgh, Roxy Ball Room sites in London Holborn, Dublin and Glasgow, and the conversion of an existing Roxy Lanes venue in Liverpool to the Star Pins brand in January.

Matt Jones, chief executive of Professionals at Play, said: “Over the past year, the scale and complexity of our operations have grown significantly. Ben has played a pivotal role in laying the foundations for this growth, and his appointment as managing director ensures strong continuity as we continue our expansion across the UK and Ireland.”
