Chick ’n’ Sours has returned to east London with a three-month residency at the Crown and Castle in Dalston, marking a comeback to the area where the brand first built its reputation.

The fried chicken business began trading at the pub on Kingsland Road on Wednesday 10 December. The site is close to Dalston Junction station and a short distance from the brand’s former Haggerston restaurant, which closed earlier this year.

Chick ’n’ Sours first opened in Haggerston in 2015, gaining a following for its fried chicken menu and informal late-night setting. The Dalston residency follows the closure of its permanent restaurants and a recent pop-up at Big Chill.

The menu at the Crown and Castle includes fried chicken sandwiches, wings, tenders seasoned with the brand’s seaweed spice blend, and a selection of sides.

A classics section features dishes such as Szechuan aubergine, Mexinese nachos and chicken toast. The business said its chicken continues to be brined, hand-breaded and twice cooked.

The pop-up will operate on a walk-in basis only.

A spokesperson for the Crown and Castle said: “Chick ’n’ Sours brings a flavour and attitude that suits this part of East London perfectly. Having them back in Dalston feels like welcoming a familiar face home.”

David Wolanski, co-founder of Chick ’n’ Sours, added: “Following on from the closure of the restaurants and the success of our residency at Big Chill, returning to Kingsland Road means a lot. This area is a huge part of the Chick ’n’ Sours story, and it feels right to be cooking here again. We can’t wait to see some familiar old faces again and introduce newbies to the Chick N Sours experience.”
