Hospitality group 6 of 1 is set to open Café Kowloon, a modern Cantonese restaurant in east London this winter, marking the company’s latest expansion move. The launch will introduce a space shaped by Hong Kong’s dining culture, from traditional dishes to contemporary influences.
The site will include Wonton Charlie’s, an 18-seat wonton noodle soup bar at the front of the venue. Guests will pass through the bar into Café Kowloon, which the group says will present two contrasting aspects of Hong Kong food culture – a longstanding staple and a modern interpretation of Cantonese cooking.
Café Kowloon follows a series of openings by the group since founders Frank Yeung and Abhinav Malde launched Mr Bao in Peckham in 2016. The pair have since opened Daddy Bao, two Master Bao sites in west London and Stratford, cocktail bar Good Measure, and Wonton Charlie’s.

Frank Yeung and Abhinav Malde, co-founders of 6 of 1, said: “This opening has been a long time in the making, so it’s very exciting to finally see all the site hunting, research, and development come to life. We’re especially thrilled to be joining such a vibrant neighbourhood – surrounded by some amazing hospitality spots – and we hope to become a meaningful part of the local community.
“This marks a big step in the journey for 6 of 1: a new site, a new corner of London, and our first move beyond Taiwanese food. It’s a project fuelled by real passion from the whole team, and we can’t wait to open the doors. As always, our focus is on building a team, a menu and a space that allows people to relax and have fun. Delivering exceptional hospitality is what drives us and we’re excited to bring that spirit to this new space.”
