KFC to open new site at Winsford Gateway in Cheshire

KFC, via its approved franchise operator Gastronomy Restaurants Ltd, has become the latest new operator to sign up for a unit at Winsford Gateway, the 30-acre strategic development and major employment site in Cheshire.

Winsford Gateway developer Rula Developments has agreed a deal with Gastronomy Properties to purchase a 0.66-acre roadside plot for development of the KFC Drive Thru restaurant of c.2,400 sq ft GIA. With full planning consent already in place construction will start imminently with a target opening by early 2026.

The announcement follows the recent opening of a new McDonalds and Costa Coffee, expanding the amenity provision at Winsford Gateway.

Ian Gill from KFC said: “We are pleased to have worked closely with Rula Developments to acquire this prominent development plot at Winsford Gateway. We have secured planning consent for our new restaurant in this location, providing further amenity for the local businesses and community. We expect to be open in Q1 2026 and look forward to bringing the KFC brand to the residents of Winsford.”

Mark Hawthorne, development director at Rula Developments, added: “We are pleased to secure this new deal with KFC, hot on the heels of the successful openings for Costa Coffee and McDonalds, to serve the thousands of people that work and commute daily around the site. The convenient drive thru will complement existing provisions with Greggs, Subway and Londis as well as the petrol filling station, expanding the amenity hub for the community.

“The wider Winsford Industrial Estate is currently 100 per cent occupied which is testament to the locational attributes of the site. We are actively driving new development at the northern gateway to provide 30 acres of state-of-the-art, fast-track logistics accommodation options.”
