Mahiki, the London-born lifestyle and entertainment brand known for its Polynesian-inspired bars and celebrity clientele, has been acquired by EBH Holdings.

The deal, completed following what the company described as a “forensic period of due diligence”, marks the latest chapter for a brand that has faced years of financial instability and ownership changes.

First opened in Mayfair in 2006, Mahiki became a global name for its tropical cocktails and island décor, attracting high-profile visitors including musicians, actors and members of the royal family. However, recent years brought operational decline and insolvency amid wider pressures on the hospitality sector.

EBH Holdings said it intends to stabilise the business and confront what it called “significant legacy issues”, including unresolved creditor positions and contractual complications.

The company plans to begin a strategic recovery and redevelopment process in the coming weeks. It will focus on meeting historic obligations to creditors and partners while relaunching the brand in key international markets.

EBH Holdings said the new iteration of Mahiki would seek to blend its original escapist theme with a “forward-thinking, sustainable, and culturally relevant vision”. It also thanked suppliers and partners for their “patience and professionalism” during the transition.

Sylvester Iquaibom, spokesperson for EBH Holdings, said: “Mahiki’s story is one of creativity, joy and cultural resonance, but one that we believe has not reached its true potential, having endured the hardships and changes in the leisure hospitality industry over past decades.

“Our due diligence made clear just how much the brand and business needed resuscitation. We are committed to restoring credibility and reimagining Mahiki for a new era – one grounded in integrity, partnership, and innovation.”
