KFC has revealed that it is opening a new restaurant in Moreton this weekend, creating 40 jobs as part of the fast-food chain’s wider expansion across the UK and Ireland.
The outlet, which opens on 20 September, will have seating for 46 customers, six digital ordering kiosks, on-site parking and a waiting area for delivery drivers. It joins 10 other KFC branches across Merseyside.
Roles created at the restaurant range from team members to management. KFC said the Moreton branch would also contribute to its food donation programme, which redistributes surplus stock to people in need through the charity FareShare.
Tom Reid, senior acquisition manager at KFC UK and Ireland, said: “The Wirral has always had a strong KFC fanbase, so we’re thrilled to be opening our doors in Moreton. We’re expanding right across the UK, and this opening is an exciting step for us here in the North West.”
Alex Jones, area coach at franchise partner Gastronomy, added: “We’ve got big plans to bring KFC to more people around the country, and Moreton is the perfect next move for us. Our team has gone above and beyond to create a restaurant customers will love.”
The opening forms part of KFC’s £1.5bn investment plan in the UK and Ireland over the next five years, announced during the company’s 60th anniversary. The business has pledged 500 new restaurants and more than 7,000 jobs over the next decade.
KFC’s latest Economic and Community Impact Report estimated the brand contributes £1.1bn a year to the UK economy, including £96m in the North West where it supports 4,574 jobs.
Franchise operator Gastronomy Restaurants Limited has been a KFC partner for almost 20 years and now runs 44 outlets. It has agreed a further expansion to more than 100 branches by 2030.
