German Doner Kebab has announced the appointment of Chris Waters as its new chief marketing officer, effective 1 September. 

Waters, who is currently European brand director at JD Sports, will take up the role as the kebab restaurant chain continues its growth in the UK and international markets. 

He brings more than 20 years of experience in retail marketing, having held senior roles at JD Sports, Morrisons and Asda. 

According to GDK, Waters’ background in fast-moving consumer goods and fashion retail makes him well placed to lead its brand strategy.

GDK, which is backed by True and Hero Brands, positions itself as a premium quick-service restaurant (QSR) chain targeting Gen Z consumers through links with music, sport and popular culture. 

Its menu includes products such as the Boss Box, OG Kebab and Gym Box, featuring lean meats, toasted waffle bread and signature sauces.
