International café chain Cooks Coffee has entered into an agreement with Dairygold, which will see it operate and manage four of its Esquires-branded cafés within Dairygold-owned Co-op Superstores in Ireland

The contract, which is for an initial period of 10 years effective immediately, is for cafés located in Middleton, Carrigaline and Mallow in Cork and Raheen in Limerick.

An Irish farmer owned co-operative, Dairygold consists of dairy, nutritionals and agribusiness, and employs over 1,300 people.

Cooks Coffee owns the global rights to the Esquires brand (except in Australia and New Zealand), with its core business being focused in the UK and Ireland.

With more than 100 stores in its portfolio globally, Cooks Coffee is experiencing “a period of rapid development and growth”.

According to Cooks Coffee, its focus is to create “an ethical café group operated by local people” and promote individual entrepreneurship and community engagement.

With the addition of these garden centre cafés, there will now be 19 Esquires cafés in Ireland.

Aiden Keegan, chief executive of Cooks, said: “We look forward to building the partnership with Dairygold and to sharing Esquires great food, coffee and hospitality in the Co-op cafes that we will operate with pride.”
