Tattenham Corner Pub in Epsom Downs, Surrey, has been acquired by Young’s and Co.’s Brewery from Whitbread.

Formerly a Beefeater, the acquisition will be Young’s first site in the Epsom Down area, joining its collection of premium pubs in Surrey, including The Bear in Oxshott and Chequers at Walton on the Hill.

Overlooking Epsom racecourse and the wider Epsom Downs, Tattenham Corner is a two-storey, 8,000sq ft, 220-cover freehold pub with an expansive garden and car park.

Joining the 232-strong Young’s Pub portfolio, Tattenham Corner follows the recent acquisition of The Crooked Billet in Clapton, along with four out-of-London sites acquired from Marston’s.

The site has closed with immediate effect to undergo a significant refurbishment, reinstating the venue as a community pub complete with beer garden.

Simon Dodd, CEO at Young’s and Co.’s Brewery, said: “As Young’s continues to expand its presence in the home counties, Tattenham Corner offers a great opportunity for growth as an established site in an affluent area where we are yet to make our mark.

“Whilst the site undergoes an extensive refurbishment to create a premium pub and dining destination, we are working closely with Whitbread, along with Young’s internal recruitment team, the Ram Agency, to offer roles to the existing team.”
