Canadian restaurant chain Tim Hortons has launched a new franchise model in the UK as part of its plans to significantly expand its UK estate.

According to the coffeehouse, its franchise model is a “core pillar of growth”, which will help the brand increase its portfolio of 75 restaurants in the UK.

The company plans to launch the Tim Hortons brand in new towns and cities nationwide, following five years spent carrying out a ‘test and learn’ phase.

The chain’s aim is to open both drive-thrus and high street restaurants.

Tim Hortons first entered the UK with its first opening in Glasgow in 2017, after which the company opened up to 31 sites in 2022.

A new restaurant was also opened in London last year in Royale Leisure Park.

Kevin Hydes, chief commercial officer of Tim Hortons UK&I, said: “Serving our guests, the highest quality, range of beverages, donuts and made-to-order food that suits all parts has been our main priority, and now we also want to take Tim Hortons to more local communities across the nation at pace.

“We’re confident that our franchise model will be core to us achieving this goal.”
