Now or Never opens in Lancaster

According to the duo, the restaurant's name Now Or Never, reflects the use of ever changing hyper-seasonal ingredients in the creation of a monthly changing multi-course tasting menu

Now Or Never, the debut fine dining restaurant by chef Jeff Marshall and his wife, restaurant manager and co-founder Nichola Marshall, has now opened its doors in Lancaster.

The “intimate” dining space catering for up to 20 guests sits in a restored Georgian Grade II listed building, located on Sun Street in Lancaster’s historic quarter.

According to the duo, the restaurant’s name Now Or Never, reflects the use of ever changing hyper-seasonal ingredients in the creation of a monthly changing multi-course tasting menu.

Chef Oliver Parry will also join chef patron Marshall, as they curate a menu showcasing dishes inspired by the “variety” and “innovation” of modern British cooking underpinned by classical techniques, combined with world cuisine influences from Japan, the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

Dinner is served on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and dishes feature hyper-seasonal ingredients sourced from the “best” producers in their respective fields, such as asparagus from Claremont Farm on the Wirral, strawberries from Annabel’s, Micklefield, Yorkshire, late season rhubarb from Greenbank Farm, Carnforth, Lancashire, scallops from Orkney and lamb from the southern Lake District fells.

The 10-course menu is priced at £80 per person, highlights include Fat Cow and chive, Cod, cockle and salsify, Lamb and allium, Blood orange and yoghurt, and White chocolate and pistachio.

The new restaurant also offers an extensive drinks list, featuring hand wines, beers and spirits from producers from the UK, Europe and further afield, who utilise biodynamic and organic minimal intervention practices whilst caring and nurturing the land on which they grow.

An optional wine pairing curated by the team is also available priced at £45 per person.

Now or Never will also accommodate parties of up to six guests and exclusive use can also be arranged by prior agreement with the team.

Chef patron Jeff Marshall and co-founder Nichola Marshall, said: ‘’We opened the doors of Journey Social five years ago, and we’ve steadily built up a reputation for what we do, delivering exemplary service using the finest quality ingredients. Nichola and I have always wanted to add a fine dining venue to our offer, and we’ve been fortunate in being able to do that by opening Now Or Never.

“We’re both massively excited about adding a very different offering to Lancaster’s dining scene and can’t wait to welcome guests to experience our hyper-seasonal menu created using the very best produce from across the old county palatine of Lancashire alongside ingredients sourced from the very best producers in their respective fields from across the UK and Europe.’’
