Nando’s has partnered with Maximus to provide mental health support for their UK employees to help improve wellbeing in the wider hospitality sector.
The chain restaurant, which employs around 18,000 people across more than 450 locations across the UK is “committed” to improving the availability of mental health support for its employees.
Maximus currently supports employers across the country through the ‘Access to Work Mental Health Support Service’, which provides a package of cost-free mental health workplace support to employers, including wellness recovery action plans and expert guidance on workplace adjustments.
As part of the service for Nando’s, Maximus will deliver mental health training, support clinics and webinars for restaurant managers and central teams, ensuring that they can direct anyone experiencing mental health problems to the right support.
Chris Kingsbury, partnerships manager for the ‘Access to Work Mental Health Support Service’ at Maximus, said: “Research shows that workers in the hospitality sector often struggle to access support with their mental wellbeing. Our market-leading partnership with Nando’s ensures that their UK employees gain access to confidential, work-centred support.
“We hope that the partnership will help to encourage a greater emphasis on workforce wellbeing across the hospitality sector.”
Rob Bray, people director at Nando’s, said: “In the UK, one in four people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year. At Nando’s we’re working towards removing any stigma attached to mental health by making it easy and ok to ask for help, wherever you work in the business.
“We’re super proud to be the first restaurant chain working with Maximus to offer colleagues access to trained professionals, as well as mental health clinics. Ultimately, we want to help people manage any issues and stay working with us.”
