Forno, a new all-day bakery, pastificio and deli by the chef and owner of Ombra, Mitshel Ibrahim, will be opening its doors under the arches next to Regent’s Canal, Hackney, in January 2023.

It is reported that the venue will specialise in pasta, fresh sauces, cold cuts, Italian cheeses, freshly baked bread and wine, with all offerings to be available for takeaway as well as eat in.

Forno will also have 10 seating spaces inside and 20 available outside for a breakfast of freshly baked cornetti, maritozzi and sfogliatelle served with Italian coffee, followed by lunch of stuffed focaccia sandwiches and daily changing soups.

It is thought that the venue will also open in the evenings “on occasion” when the chef will also serve Roman pizza and pasta with wine and negronis.

Ibrahim has operated Italian neighbourhood restaurant Ombra for 11 years, which is said to be driven by the “best of British” produce from the UK and some bits from Italy.

According to Ibrahim, he has been “dreaming up” Forno for some time.
