Star Pubs and Bars has announced its investment of £550k to refurbish and reopen two historic Yorkshire pubs that have been closed since 2019.
The firm has said work will begin on The Farmers Boy and The Cask and Spindle in Shepley in 2022.
Star will transform The Farmers Boy into a local catering for the whole community and restore The Cask and Spindle to its former destination dining pub, renamed The Spindle and Thread to mark its revival.
According to the firm, the refurbishment will add new planting, signage and lighting, and the outside space will be expanded and enhanced at both pubs with new heating and furniture.
The Farmers Boy is set to have external seating for 56 people including a 24-seater covered courtyard, with 30 extra outside seats at The Cask and Spindle.
Star has also said a locals’ bar and a separate dining area, as well as a function area accommodating 35 people is also set to be integrated within the pubs.
Anthony Briggs, Star Pubs and Bars’ area manager, said: “Shepley is a lovely village in a beautiful part of Yorkshire. We’re keen to revitalise these two wonderful old Yorkshire pubs for the community, as well as those from further afield, to enjoy.
“Now restrictions have been lifted, we want to recruit new licensees and get the pubs open again as soon as possible. The Farmers Boy and The Cask & Spindle have been very popular in the past. I’m confident that with investment and great licensees they will thrive again in the future.”
