Deliveroo has announced it is to allow restaurants to use their own delivery networks with its the new service āMarketplace+ā, which will lead to 5,000 more restaurants available on the app by the end of the year.
Deliveroo said it expects the new service will improve delivery times, āresult in increased salesā for existing partners, āincreased earnings for Deliveroo ridersā and will see the app operate in 50 new towns.
The delivery company said āno other companyā can offer small restaurants access to āthousands of driversā who can deliver on an āaverage of 30 minutesā.
Restaurants joining the new service will also be able to use Deliveroo riders alongside their own.
Deliveroo CEO and co-founder Will Shu said: āDeliverooās growth is matched only by our ambition. Today we are unveiling the next big step in our plan to offer customers an even greater choice of restaurants, at a greater range of prices while continually improving service.
āThatās why we introduced delivery-only kitchens, bringing new, exciting restaurants to new areas. Itās why we invested in new restaurant brands to boost innovation, and itās why today we are giving restaurants with their own fleets of riders the chance to be on our platform and to use our rider network whenever they need it.ā
He added: āThis is a major development for the company that will mean thousands of new restaurants delivering new orders to new customers and itās part of our mission to become the definitive food company.ā
The new service will be rolled out across Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Australia, Hong Kong and the UK and Ireland in July this year.
