Tim Hortons reportedly has plans to expand across the UK and Ireland in a bid to “capitalise” on the growing trend of drive-through dining.

According to the BBC, the Canadian coffee chain said it hopes to open an outlet in “every major city and town” over the next two years.

Tim Hortons, which is owned by fast food giant Restaurant Brands International (RBI), currently has 23 locations situated across the UK, it is reported that its latest expansion plans could create up to 2000 new jobs.

The news comes as the coffee house reports a 37% year-on-year jump in sales in the UK and Ireland in the most recent quarter, however, the brand experienced a 30% slump in sales this July as a result of Covid-19

Kevin Hydes, chief commercial officer for Tim Hortons told the BBC: “Despite challenging times for the sector, our drive-thru and flagship locations have delivered exceptional performance and our model is proving to be well attuned to the evolving needs of customers at this time.”

Tim Horton’s next opening will be in Milton Keynes in December.
