JD Wetherspoon has agreed a new franchise deal with the Papas Group that will see 15 new pubs open across the UK.
The first venue, named The Hykeham Manor, will open on 1 October at Gateway Park in Lincoln, on the site of a former Brewers Fayre. Three more pubs are scheduled to open in October and November in Annitsford near Cramlington, Stockton-on-Tees and Emersons Green in Bristol.
The Papas Group, a family-owned business founded in 1966, runs a number of casual dining and quick-service restaurants in England and Scotland.
Wetherspoon already operates pubs through franchise arrangements with Haven Holiday Parks, Newcastle and Hull universities, and Thompson Holdings in the Isle of Man.
Michael Barron, commercial director at Wetherspoon, said: “We are delighted to have signed agreements with the Papas Group. We are looking at further opportunities and are confident that more franchise agreements will be signed.”
Andrew Papas, director of Papas Group, added: “This partnership is about more than just expansion; it’s about restoration, revitalisation, and reinvestment in our local communities.
“We’re proud to be breathing new life into some fantastic venues, creating hundreds of jobs, and offering unbeatable value, welcoming surroundings and the exceptional service that people expect from Wetherspoon.”
