Caffè Nero Q1 sales hit ‘record’ £166m

UK sales rose 7% to £97m, driven by a 49% year-on-year rise in iced beverage sales as the company’s new iced matcha range sold 1.3 million units during Q1

Caffè Nero has recorded sales of £166m in the first quarter of its 2025-26 financial year, up 9% on the same period last year, as demand for iced drinks lifted summer trading.

The Nero Group, which owns the Caffè Nero brand, reported like-for-like sales growth of 6% for the three months to August.

UK sales rose 7% to £97m, driven by a 49% year-on-year rise in iced beverage sales. The company said its new iced matcha range sold 1.3 million units during the quarter.

Growth was reported across all territories, including Turkey, Sweden, Ireland, the United States, the United Kingdom and Cyprus. Customer numbers also increased in each market.

The group opened 13 new stores during the quarter, taking its total to 1,149 across 11 countries, while 20 sites were refurbished. Membership of its app rose to 6 million users globally.

Gerry Ford, founder and group chief executive of the Nero Group, said: “We have had a hugely successful first quarter, which means our financial year is off to a strong start. Our summer iced drinks campaign, particularly our iced coffees and matcha ranges, were very successful.

“We are operating in difficult times with high levels of macro uncertainty, record high green coffee bean costs and sluggish economies. But we are sticking to our basic principles: great coffee served by wonderful people who care about their customers. I’m hopeful our momentum can continue in these challenging times.”
