Starbucks’ first UK franchised business partner, 23.5 Degrees, has announced it will open its 60th store in six years, on 14 December in Sheffield.
The business has plans to open six further Starbucks stores in the next three months, and has 23 new stores planned for 2019. 23.5 Degrees says it is “actively seeking both freehold and leasehold drive thru opportunities on main arterial routes”, that are close to major retail destinations or on large industrial estates.
Less than six years ago in February 2013, the group opened its first Starbucks franchise in Liphook, Hampshire. 23.5 Degrees has opened 13 drive thru stores this year, with stores stretching from Bournemouth on the south coast to Norwich in the east, and Hartlepool in the north east.
The group now has more than 770 employees, with the number will set to more than double as the Starbucks stores currently in development are rolled out. The company says nearly 70% of management have been promoted to those positions from within the business.
23.5 Degrees managing director Mark Hepburn said: “Reaching our 60th Starbucks store just six months after opening our 50th demonstrates our commitment to our ambitious growth plans. We’re keen to keep our foot on the gas and hope to extend our store count considerably in the coming years.
“We’re able to move fast on great new sites. Our use of modular design and build enables our landlords to have our stores trading faster.”
