Crussh becomes first high street outlet to serve CBD booster

Crussh Fit Food and Juice Bars has become the first food-to-go retailer on the British high street to offer CBD (cannabidiol) oil to its customers as a coffee booster along with the introduction of a new menu.

The health food chain will add the naturally occurring compound found in the hemp plant to any coffee on its menu for £1.50.

Cannabidiol is one of the numerous unique compounds called cannabinoids which naturally occur in hemp. It doesn’t contain the psychoactive part of the plant that cannabis contains, known as THC. There are numerous studies currently happening to test the effectiveness of CBD in treating a whole host of ailments, from mild anxiety to epilepsy.

Crussh will also introduce two new Indian-inspired Summer Fit Bowls offering two of the required five a day, including the chicken tikka salad and plant-based spiced chickpea salad.

The Crussh summer menu will be available from 7 May 2019 and will include:

• Chicken tikka fit bowl (2/5 a day, high protein, GF, WF, from £5.95) – chicken tikka with turmeric cauliflower rice, kachumber salad, pickled red onion, mint raita dressing and crispy chickpeas.
• Spiced chickpea fit bowl (2/5 a day, vegan, GF, WF, DF, source of protein, from £5.50) – spiced chickpea with cauliflower and coriander rice, fresh slaw with nigella seeds, pickled red onions, coriander, tamarind chutney and crispy chickpeas.
• Chicken and chorizo hotpot (from £6.50) – chicken, butter beans, chorizo and roasted pepper in a smokey tomato sauce with brown and red rice. Topped with spinach, yoghurt and herbs at the counter.
• Mocha protein power balls (GF, WF, from £2.95): almonds, whey protein, dates, cacao and espresso.

Crussh will also introduce Barebells protein bars (hazelnut and nougat; and salted peanuts), canned remedy kombucha (raspberry lemonade; apple crisp; ginger and lemon), and biomel coconut gut shots (chocolate; salted caramel).
