Speciality coffee chain Harris and Hoole has reported a 14.7% increase in like-for-like sales for the 13 weeks from May to July.

Gross sales jumped by 11% to £2.1m during the period, up from £1.9 million in the previous quarter.

The company attributed the growth to strong demand for its iced summer drinks range, which includes a strawberry iced matcha. According to Harris and Hoole, sales of summer drinks surged 80% year-on-year.

A recently introduced in-store food initiative has also contributed to the performance. The chain launched a new range of savoury lines, including filled croissants and Italian schiacciata breads, which are now freshly made on site. Since the change, food sales have risen by 24%.

Founded in 2012, Harris and Hoole operates 15 stores across London and the South, and is now looking to expand further across the Southeast.

Andrew Sanders, head of Harris and Hoole, said: ā€œWe’ve seen fantastic traction with our new summer drinks range. We have experienced significant growth in sales and are starting to build some real momentum.

ā€œWe’re proud of our speciality standard coffee range and this summer menu has enhanced that. Now we are actively seeking new sites to further expand the business and enter a period of growth.ā€
