Domino’s Pizza has announced that it will make 5,000 new hires after the takeaway chain saw sales increase 5.5% during the first quarter of 2020.

Up to 1,000 of these new jobs will be apprenticeship positions under the Government’s new Kickstart scheme

The scheme allows for employers to create new six-month job placements for young people who are currently on universal credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.

The company also plans to hire new chefs, delivery drivers, and customer service workers.

These new positions are on top of the 6,000 jobs Domino’s said it has already created since the start of the pandemic.

Chief executive Dominic Paul said: ‘It was a privilege to keep our stores open during Covid-19 and to now be in a position to offer thousands more people the opportunity to become a Domino’s team member’.

He added: ‘Together, these over 6,000 new roles will help Domino’s continue to safely serve our local communities as we head towards the busy festive period’.
