The IoH has become a partner of the BoE’s banknote checking scheme, a free scheme for companies to protect their business from counterfeit banknotes and stay up-to-date on the latest banknote news. The institute has become a partner to help ensure its members and wider hospitality industry don’t fall victim to counterfeit banknotes.

Foodservice rates fell to 3.1% in July, showing that inflation has now fallen for 13 consecutive months. However, there has been a slight uptick in month-on-month prices, with the whole basket of items increasing by 0.2% from June. The rise was largely driven by the beverage categories of the FPI, which have consistently risen since March this year. 

NTIA boss Michael Kill has criticised a proposed ban on outdoor smoking. Kill has accused the government of pushing the country towards a “nanny state” after the PM has confirmed that ministers are looking at banning it in a variety of places, including pub gardens, outdoor restaurants and outside sports venues, hospitals, nightclubs and in small parks. 

Celentano’s in Glasgow will become a restaurant with rooms this autumn. Located within the city’s historic Cathedral Square area, it is set to become the first restaurant of its kind in the city. The husband-and-wife team opened Celentano’s in 2021, housed within Cathedral House, a listed 1896 Scottish baronial-style bed and breakfast.
