Humdingers opens new patisserie and eatery in Highbury

Alongside the Humdingers Bakery and Soup Kitchen on London’s Hoxton Street, Humdingers Highbury will also offer free hot meals to anyone in the community who is in need

Humdingers has launched its third bakery and eatery in Highbury, North London, in addition to its existing sites in Hoxton and Hornsey.

The brand, which also operates an event catering business working for clients like Alexander McQueen, Amazon, Gucci and Burberry, has designed the new site with a vintage aesthetic and original features of the fishmongers it once was.

The new patisserie offers a variety of pastries, breakfast rolls, cereal pots and fruit, and freshly brewed coffee. The menu also includes some vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options.

The brand’s soup kitchen in Hoxton was launched in response to the pandemic, where catering facilities and staff were repurposed to feed the local community.

The founder Robert Hunningher was also awarded a British Empire Medal by HM the Queen for his work to provide food for people in his community.

Hunningher said: “It’s about playing our part to ensure no one in our community goes hungry or is stuck at a disadvantage. This will also hopefully inspire other businesses to act in a similar way, to always be mindful of their surrounding community and what they can do to help.”
