Zia Lucia launches in Canary Wharf

The restaurant will feature a custom bar inspired by 1980s Italian design, along with a cocktail menu with classic cocktails and specially selected wine and prosecco from small Italian producers

Independent pizzeria, Zia Lucia, is set to launch a new Canary Wharf location tomorrow (25 October), marking the eighth site to be opened by founders Gianluca D’Angelo and Claudio Vescovo in London’s financial district.

Located on the ground floor of one of the district’s skyscrapers, the restaurant has a seating capacity of 80, including outdoor seating, and guests will be able to have one of Zia Lucia’s 48-hour slow fermented pizzas whilst overlooking the waterfront.

Diners can choose from a four dough menu: traditional white flour, wholemeal, vegetable charcoal, and their base without gluten. The menu will also comprise a selection of authentic Italian starters.

Additionally, D’Angelo and Vescovo have developed an experimental green matcha-based dough unique to the new Canary Wharf pizzeria to celebrate the launch.

Vescovo said: “Coming from the financial sectors, we have lots of friends, clients and colleagues working and living in the area, and for many years they have asked us to bring Zia Lucia to the neighbourhood. We had been searching for the right venue for at least two years before we fell in love with this location and its unique water-facing position.”

Gianluca added: “[We are] constantly looking for new ideas to improve the Zia Lucia experience and make it more innovative and unique. The cocktail-bar is a new focus we are introducing, and we can’t wait to reveal our cocktail menu which is designed to be a perfect match to our four types of dough.”
