Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck profits rise to £750,000

Heston Blumethal’s Fat Duck restaurant in Bray, Berkshire, has seen its profits more than double, according to its latest documents filed with Companies House.

For the full-year period ending 26 May 2019, the restaurant posted profits before tax of £746,741, up from £297,788 the year prior. Turnover during the period was also up compared with the previous year rising from £6.7m to £7.3m.

The restaurant also reported EBITDA of £1.3m up from £0.9m.

In the update, director Peter Moody writes: “The company’s employees are key to this improved performance and there have been measurable improvements in recruitment, retention, career advancements and training which establishes a strong foundation for future performance. The director would like to thank them all for their hard work and commitment.”

Looking forward, the accounts also stated: “Whilst the company continues to develop and innovate, the company faces a range of risks and uncertainties that may affect profitability.

“The director is aware of the threats to the company’s future that are posed by the impact of Brexit. How this will affect the business in the long term will only become clear as the details of any trade agreement with the EU and new immigration policies emerge.”

It added: “Like all businesses in the sector Living Wage increases and supplier cost inflation continue to impact margins and we continue to work on efficiency programmes to offset these increases.”
