Deliveroo has launched a new click and collect service for its customers named ‘Pickup’.
Deliveroo said Pickup aims to help people save “time and money” as they won’t have to wait in a queue for their order to be prepared or pay a delivery fee.
It added that this will create a faster option for customers to order food on Deliveroo in times of high demand.
The new service will also mean people can order for collection from restaurants who may not do delivery.
Over 700 restaurants in 13 cities across the UK have already signed up to Pickup and Deliveroo said the service will launch major names such as Byron, Pizza Express, Pizza Hut, TGI Friday’s, Frankie and Benny’s, Chiquito, Coast to Coast and Giraffe restaurants offering the service.
Deliveroo added it anticipates over 10,000 restaurants to be offering the click and collect service within the next 12 months. It also expects to sign up another 10,000 restaurants to work with in the UK in the next six months, taking the total the company will work with across the UK to 30,000.
Ajay Lakhwani, VP new businesses, Deliveroo said: “Deliveroo’s new Pickup service will give customers even more opportunities to order amazing food from their favourite restaurants.
“Gone are the days of standing in a queue waiting to take-away your food. Pickup customers can collect their meal exactly when they want.”
He added: “This service opens up even more choice and selection for consumers, while providing a new revenue stream for restaurants. This is another move towards Deliveroo being the definitive food company, offering the widest selection of foods for all occasions.”
