The Bovey Castle to reopen the Great Western Grill

The Bovey Castle in Devon has announced it will reopen The Great Western Grill restaurant on 30 June.

The building features neo-Elizabethan architecture and is set within 275 acres of countryside and rolling valleys on Dartmoor National Park, Devon.

The relaunch of the restaurant will also see the opening of the newly built Champagne Bar, offering an exclusive champagne list, alongside caviar and oysters.

The 3 AA-Rosette Great Western Grill will be headed by executive chef Mark Budd, who will prepare dishes using high quality ingredients from the estate and from surrounding areas.

The menu will consist of an á la carte menu offering traditional “favourites”, meats, grills, steaks, house specials, fish and shellfish.

Dishes are prepared using “high quality” ingredients from the estate and in the interests of sustainability, from surrounding areas wherever possible, from local game to lamb, aged Dartmoor Farmers beef and fish from the coast around the Southwest.

The menu will also feature dressed Brixham crab salad, red wine braised oxtail cottage pie and poached native lobster with truffle macaroni cheese.

Additionally, the restaurant will offer Afternoon Tea daily and will relaunch its Sunday Lunch menu.
