Domino’s CFO dies aged 51 in Boxing Day snorkelling accident

The CFO of Domino’s Pizza UK, David Bauernfeind, has died in a snorkelling accident while on holiday in Mauritius.

Bauernfeind, aged 51, reportedly drowned on Boxing Day while on holiday with his family. According to local reports he was found off the coast of the island by a sailor on a yacht.

David Wild, the Domino’s UK chief executive, said: “We are all deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic news. On behalf of our board, our colleagues and our franchisees, we send our heartfelt sympathies to David’s wife, Nicolette, and daughter, Ornella, as well as his wider family and friends.

“David was hugely liked and deeply respected for his dedication and sharp intellect amongst Domino’s colleagues. He was a force for good within the business and will be greatly missed.”

Bauernfeind was appointed as the head of the finance department at Domino’s in October 2018.

He had also previously held the role of CFO at Connect Group, the newspaper distribution company formerly owned by WH Smith, as well as spending 15 years at Xchanging.
