CAMRA names ‘best pub in Wales’

CAMRA has named Bridge End Inn in Ruabon as the “best pub in Wales”, the pub is also in the running for the groups award for the UK’s best pub.

The results of all of CAMRA’s competitions will be published in its annual Good Beer Guide with the Bridge End Inn, in the running alongside 16 other UK pubs for the book’s most prestigious spot of Camra National Pub of the Year.

Along with listing the UK’s best, the Good Beer Guide gives exposure to new and existing breweries which CAMRA considers important.

The Bridge End Inn is a former winner of the national award back in 2011 after it was refurbished upon acquisition by the McGivern family in 2009. The traditional pub is located in close proximity to Ruabon railway station and features a changing range of eight ales sourced from within 60 miles of the pub.

The owners described winning the award as an “honour” with Peter McGivern adding: “We’re honoured to win the national pub of Wales and we’re happy to be in the competition. We do our best to provide a comprehensive selection of beers.”
