The Tudor Rose to reopen after six-figure investment

Hemel Hempstead’s pub has undergone a transformation to create a cosier setting, with new carpeting in the front bar area and revamped seating

The Tudor Rose is set to re-open its doors after a six-figure investment from the award-winning Craft Union Pub Company.

The neighbourhood staple will be welcoming customers back from 24 August and will be hosting a launch party across the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of September.

The community hub has undergone a transformation, with a full investment providing a welcome uplift throughout the pub. Guests can now expect a cosier, more inviting, softer setting, with new carpeting in the front bar area, revamped seating, and a fresh new overall look.

As well as a new look and feel, the pub also has a new operator. An experienced operator across the board, Mark McCartan is no stranger to running a successful pub and has worked in the local area, and Watford for many years. He plans to continue via the pub to raise money for Box Cleva, an award-winning charity, that actively engages with young people aged between 7-15, promoting healthy lifestyles and providing positive role models.

McCartan said: “Working in pubs has always been a passion of mine, and it’s been amazing to see the transformation of the Tudor Rose. I’m really looking forward to seeing old and new customers alike seeing the new space and can’t wait to welcome everyone to the new-look pub!”

As part of the overall renovation, the pub will now be introducing entertainment that will run across the whole week.

On a Monday, guests can look forward to a darts league, Wednesday, the pub will host bingo, with prizes to be won. Friday nights will see a DJ, playing pop floor fillers, and Saturday will become the big sports day, and host live music on every last Saturday of the month. To round off the week, Sunday will also show sports, and finish the evening with a quiz night for all to get involved in.

McMartan said: “I hope to see as many local people getting involved in our brand-new schedule of entertainment as possible. As a neighbourhood pub, it’s great to see communities coming together and having fun with friends and family, and it’s an honour to be part of an establishment that brings people together, in a beautiful new space.”
