Prior to his new role, Brauweiler worked as head sommelier at Hakkasan Hanway Place, general manager at HKK, Sake no Hana and Ling Ling Mykonos.

He was also head sommelier at a number of hotels including Grande Roche in Paarl, Ellenborough Park Cheltenham Spa and The Ritz London.

He earned a Master Sommelier diploma in 2015, a “prestigious” degree awarded to less than 300 people in the world. The diploma is “demonstrative of his level of proficiency and breadth of knowledge”.

Brauweiler said: “I’m thrilled to announce my promotion to Group Sommelier, Hakkasan Group operates some of the world’s top fine dining establishments, with incredible venues boasting world class wine selections.

“I’m so looking forward to building and diversifying the already stellar wine offerings at our restaurants.”

Hakkasan was established in 2001 in London, and now operates 12 sites across the world. Both its London restaurants are recipients of a Michelin star.
